I
started shooting images of scenery and nature while I was a teenager living in
Hawaii. I was captivated by the
colors and beauty of the Hawaiian orchids and Bird of Paradise flowers which my
mother grew in our back yard and I tried hard to capture their beauty on film. I
purchased my first “real” camera when I was serving as a helicopter pilot in
South Vietnam in
1968. Jumping ahead some 40 years, I
made the personal commitment to become a professional photographer and improve
my images through the study of composition, lighting and color.
I
strive to convey to others how the world looks through my eyes. Now, as I travel through Idaho and the Pacific Northwest I find that I “see” in photographic images. As I hike the trails of North Idaho, my eyes will frame the details and the beauty of the surrounding forest and mountains. As these images are created in my mind, I capture them in my camera to share with others.
